Laptop Memory

Like a computer memory, a laptop memory is also fundamentally used for storing, processing information. The laptop memory is very similar to the computer memory in several aspects. The more memory a laptop has, the better it is, though there are other aspects concerning the memory of a laptop apart from the data capacity. The main problem though when it comes to laptop memories is that there is a limit on the amount of memory that can be put into a laptop.

Laptops usually have only two slots in comparison to a desktop which has 3 or 4 slots for memory, which means lesser memory in the laptop. With current technologies, 1GB to 4GB RAM can be allocated in a laptop. This determines the speed with which processes can be run parallel. This determines the speed with which processes can be run parallel on the laptop.

Over the long run, processors become slow and they take longer time to process or load data. This is time that the RAM has to be upgraded. All activities such as gaming, music, graphics, general computing and word processing, all take up the RAM space. Hence one may often encounter the need to upgrade the RAM of the laptop. It is quiet easy to install the RAM in a laptop yourself. The memory port of a laptop can be found on the underside of it. One needs to remove the existing RAM by relaxing the ejector clips. The memory automatically pops out. Then the new RAM can be installed into the same slot and the ‘slot key’ is adjusted so that the RAM fits into the slot firmly. Then the 'ejector clips' are set to hold the RAM in place. With smaller and more advanced laptops coming into the market, lot of advances have been made in the laptop memory.
